Preparation Timeline

Suggested phase-by-phase study plan

Phase 1: Foundation & Basics Months 1-3

Clear Core Engineering basics and establish a strong foundation in Reasoning.

  • Study standard textbooks for your specific branch (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical) targeting fundamental concepts.
  • Start daily practice of General Intelligence & Reasoning (focus on weak topics like number series and spatial orientation).
  • Read daily current affairs and begin Static GK (History, Polity, Geography) from standard books like Lucent's.
Phase 2: Advanced Topics & Practice Months 4-5

Solve previous year questions and practice advanced technical topics for Paper-II.

  • Solve chapter-wise SSC JE Previous Year Questions (PYQs) for the technical section to understand the weightage.
  • Practice numerical and design-based questions using your virtual calculator/slide rule, simulating Paper-II scenarios.
  • Complete compiling short notes and formula handbooks for quick revision before the exam.
Phase 3: Mock Tests & Revision Last 1-2 Months

Simulate exam environment, improve speed, and minimize negative marking.

  • Attempt full-length mock tests for Paper-I (120 minutes) twice a week.
  • Analyze mock tests to identify and eliminate silly mistakes, especially in the technical section.
  • Thoroughly revise short notes, important IS codes (for Civil), formulas, and circuit diagrams.
